Boots & Candy

Boots

Breed: Thoroughbred (Brigadier Gerard x Sky Miss)

Height: 16.2 hh

Colour: Chestnut

Boots, son of Derby winner Brigadier Gerard, raced primarily in France before joining David Elsworth's yard in this country.

A tendon injury cut short his career and he was sold on.

He came to us in a sorry state having been turned out in a field and left for far too long in a rug. He had lost most of the hair under his rug and his tendon was bad again.

After lots of TLC he spent many years as a really enjoyable hack and providing invaluable pace setting for our eventers learning to gallop.

Boots even had dressage outing or two which he enjoyed in his own inimitable style !

Nimrod

Nimrod (Ganymede)

Breed: Thoroughbred (Saunter) x "pony"

Height: 16.1 hh

Colour: Bay

Nim really was a truly multi-talented horse.

He was bred in Cornwall and started out with considerable success on the show jumping circuit.

He then came to us to try Eventing. At this he excelled, going on to 2* level with his best results at Chepstow and Ston Easton.

Usually double clear in the jumping phases, dressage was definitely his weakness leading to some interesting comments written on his dressage test sheets. One very senior judge said "horse has his own ideas about dressage" and another "airs above ground NOT required".

After reaching his peak in eventing and with the flatwork somewhat improved, he changed codes to affiliated dressage wherein he went on to success at Advanced Medium level.

Dino at Bicton ODE

Dino (Mandino)

Breed: Mandao (TB) x Alice III (TB x ID)

Height: 16.3 hh

Colour: Bay

Dino was Gary's first horse. He excelled in Eventing, Dressage and Show Jumping, winning nearly everything at riding club open level. He went on to affiliated eventing and is pictured here at Taunton.

Probably Dino's biggest success was winning the rose bowl at the military saddle club championships at Bicton.

He was bred as a point-to-point horse and showed his pedigree with a stunning turn of speed when required. This sometimes got us into a bit of bother with eventing stewards !

His Sire, Mandao, was a TV star in the programme "Horse In The House"

Aisha - calling to come in !

Aisha

Breed: Almoojid (TB) x Artemis

Height: 16.1 hh

Colour: Black

Aisha was a stunning mare and one of the few offspring of top performance stallion Almoojid.

She came to us as a weanling and went on to considerable success in both dressage and show jumping. She won every combined training competition that she entered.

Sadly, her career was cut short by a very serious illness which brought her to an intimely end.

Georgie

Georgie

Breed: Irish Draught x Thoroughbred

Height: 16.1 hh

Colour: Grey

Georgie is a retired showjumper. He is out on loan at the moment as travelling companion to a top class dressage horse.

He's a lovely horse to ride but not great fan of schooling !
